4 Day Tour - Panorama, Themba Kruger & Protea Hotel - Kruger Gate

Day One of Safari

Start your tour from Johannesburg or Pretoria in the comfort of an air-conditioned microbus and travel east towards the Drakensberg Mountains via Dullstroom, Lydenburg and Pilgrims Rest. Stop for a lunch break before driving along the Panorama Route seeing the magnificent Blyde River Canyon and the Three Rondavels, God's Window and the Lisbon or Berlin waterfall. There are African markets at various places along the Panorama Route and there will be time for passengers wishing to buy curios. Arrive at the Thornhill Safari Lodge, with its unique location in the Kruger National Park ecosystem that blends in with the splendid backdrop of the Northern Drakensberg escarpment and the thrill of life in the centre of Big 5 territory. Relax, have a drink and enjoy a South African dinner and overnight at this special place.

Day Two of Safari

Early morning start, driving to the Kruger in an open vehicle with your guide. Enter the Kruger at Orpen gate for a half day of game viewing in the Kruger National Park, hoping to see the Big 5 and other fascinating animals and bird life. Enjoy a packed picnic breakfast at a picnic area. Lunch will be at one of the rest camps within the park. You will return to Thornhill Safari Lodge in the afternoon for an exciting open vehicle game drive in the famous Big Five private game reserve Thornybush. If it is not a full moon get a chance to see the Southern Cross and other southern hemisphere stars in the truly clear sky. Dinner and overnight at the Thornhill Safari Lodge.

Day Three of Safari

Awaken with a bushwalk & have the opportunity to view the game up close in their natural habitat as the Thornhill Safari Lodge boasts a wide diversity of prolific game in the private conservancy. After a leisurely breakfast at the lodge we board our microbus to drive back to the Kruger Park Orpen gate to spend a few more hours in the Park travelling south towards Paul Kruger gate. Arrive at the beautiful Protea Hotel Kruger Gate situated just outside the park in time to enjoy a swim or sundowners and dinner. Overnight at this luxurious place.

Day Four of Safari

After an excellent breakfast at the Hotel it is time to make our way back home through the Drakensberg Escarpment via White River and Nelspruit, Capital of the Mpumalanga Province. Drive through the beautiful Schoemans Valley with all its citrus farms and arrive back in Johannesburg at about 17.00 after an unforgettable 4 day experience.
